AI ethics

Artificial intelligence, deep learning, smart machines, computer vision – all are revolutionary, powerful, and widely applicable technologies. As with any tool, the impact of such technologies largely depends on the user.

Aotu takes the implications of its pioneering technologies very seriously. Like many companies, Aotu abides by a set of guiding ethical principles that inform operations. We strongly encourage both Brainframe users and the broader AI community to do the same.

  1. Privacy: Aotu does not store or retain information used on the Brainframe platform without consent from customers or users. Brainframe users enjoy complete ownership of their data, along with the right to be informed, right of erasure, and the right to object. Rights to privacy, security, and control of proprietary data are sacrosanct.
  2. Fairness, Transparency, Inclusivity: AI systems must treat people in a fair, inclusive manner. Factors (input data) influencing AI-based decisions (as in algorithms) should be understandable to people impacted by those decisions.
  3. Accountability: Developers and organizations that use AI are responsible for understanding and addressing the impacts of their AI-based solutions to other people. Aotu strongly encourages users to define an AI code of ethics, and then verify their operations reflect that code before deployment.
  4. Continuous Improvement: AI is a new and fast-evolving field. We must continuously update AI-related strategies, guidelines, and processes as we uncover new use cases and technologies.

Finally, we welcome and encourage dialogue between technology providers and the general public; earning the trust of the latter is crucial for ensuring the long term success of the former.
